October 2016 Pack Meeting - Carnival !!!

Our October Pack meeting will be on Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 PM at FPC.  Our Bear Scouts are hosting this month’s Pack Meeting by putting on a Carnival night of great fun and games. We will have lots of fun prizes. Families and siblings are always welcome to come and join in on the fun.

Welcome Lions Cubs !!!

Our Lion Cub program has exciting indoor and outdoor activities specifically designed for kindergarten age boys and their adult partner. Adult partners (guardians) are there to support and guide, allowing the new Cub Scout to discover risks and rewards under the security of adult supervision.

Lion Cubs learn by doing. As he learns and grows, the relationship with their adult partner (guardian) grows as well. At the conclusion of their kindergarten year, the Lion Cub will transition to Tiger Cubs where he'll earn the Bobcat badge and continue on to even more exciting and educational adventures through Cub Scouting.

A Lion Cub earns his Lion Badge by participating and "Doing his Best". 

Scout Uniform - Show Your Pride

Show off that Cub Scout pride! Properly wear your class A uniform to all Pack and Den meetings and all Scout outings unless instructed to wear a Class B T- Shirt. Class A uniform consists of:

• Tucked in Blue Cub Scout Shirt or Tan Boy Scout Shirt for Webelos
• Rank neckerchief with slide
• Blue or tan pants / shorts

Street Clean-Up

We have adopted the street Southwest Blvd. We start picking up trash at the intersection with Broadway (corner at Jolly Pirate Donuts) to the stop sign at Richard Ave. We pick up both sides of the street and the DQ parking lot. Please pick up any large trash you see in the field. Scouts that participate will get a free DQ ice cream treat upon completion.

This is a friendly reminder that your den will have street pick-up during the following assigned months.

Kind

Our Theme for October 2016 is "Kind"

A Scout is kind. A Scout knows there is strength in being gentle. He treats others as he wants to be treated. Without good reason, he does not harm or kill any living thing.  Kindness is not usually my first reaction to difficult situations. My first reaction may be disappointment, anger, frustration or some other form of dismay. But if I can maintain an even temper (something that gets easier and easier as I practice) I can choose to respond with kindness.

Amelia Earhart, the famous American aviation pioneer and author once said:  

“No kind action ever stops with itself.  One kind action leads to another.  Good example is followed.  A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.  The greatest work that kindness does to others is that it makes them kind themselves.”  – Amelia Earhart

Always remember, a Scout is: 

TRUSTWORTHY, LOYAL, HELPFUL, FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS, KIND, OBEDIENT, CHEERFUL, THRIFTY, BRAVE, CLEAN and REVERENT

Try to incorporate the Scout Law into everything you do.

Our September 2016 Theme was Helpful 

Did you ever pause to think about how helpful a tree is? It provides a nesting place for birds, shade from the sun and protection from the rain. It discards its dead branches, providing wood for fires and for cooking food. It adds beauty to the countryside. We must admit that a tree gives a lot more than it receives. We can learn a lesson from the tree... by doing our best to always be helpful to others by putting others first and ourselves second. Remember the lesson we learn from a tree, to give to others more than we receive.

Always remember, a Scout is: TRUSTWORTHY, LOYAL, HELPFUL, FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS, KIND, OBEDIENT, CHEERFUL, THRIFTY, BRAVE, CLEAN and REVERENT

Shop at GFS and Help the Pack Go !

Do you shop at GFS?  Help the pack earn money to help the pack go.  The pack does all of its Pack Campout Food Shopping at GFS and we participate in their rebate program.  Every time you shop at GFS tell the cashier that you are part of Cub Scout Pack 136 and the pack gets rebate money sent to the pack.  The pack uses this money for the many activities we do during the year.

Fall 2016 Campout at Madison Lake

This is an information sheet about Madison Lake. If you are planning on going, please read it. I hope this is helpful.

Circle the date on your calendar and join your Pack for a family campout at Madison Lake on Friday, September 30th to Sunday, October 2nd. Madison Lake is located at 4440 Lake Rd. in London Ohio, just 25 minutes from Grove City. Check‐in will start at 7:00 pm on Friday and we will be departing by 10:00 am on Sunday. 

Even if you are unable to stay for the whole time, join us when you can. You can just come for the day and do the activities, eat with us or stay all night…it is up to you!

Some activities you can look forward to include water rockets, field kickball, pool noodle rocket course, fishing, a campfire and much, much more.
