Cheerful

Monthly Theme for Dec 2016 - Cheerful

A Scout is Cheerful. A Scout looks for the bright side of life. He cheerfully does tasks that come his way. He tries to make others happy. Some people grumble when they are doing homework or losing a game. They might become upset if the weather turns bad on a Scout hike or if the trail is long and dusty. Others are cheerful. They jump at opportunities, and their sense of joy makes everything easier for them and those around them.

You know that you cannot always have your way. Now and then you must do things that you don't like very much. A cheerful attitude can make the time go by more quickly, and can even turn a task you dislike into a lot of fun. You have the choice of whether or not to enjoy the experiences and challenges of life. You can complain if you want to and be grumpy all the time, but it is easier and much more enjoyable to decide from the start to be cheerful whenever you can.

Cheerfulness is infections - the smile on your face can lift the spirits of those around you.

Try to incorporate the Scout Law core values into everything you do.
Always remember, a Scout is: TRUSTWORTHY, LOYAL, HELPFUL, FRIENDLY, COURTEOUS, KIND, OBEDIENT, CHEERFUL, THRIFTY, BRAVE, CLEAN and REVERENT

Hello Leaders -

I have attached a copy of the flag ceremony used at Pack openings. When it is your Den's turn to do the opening at a Pack meeting, please review, follow and practice this. Hopefully this will make things easier for you and your boys. You can print off a copy and have one there for the Leader/speaker if need be. The cardboard version of the Scout Law and Oath is just inside the door of the Scout closet. Please have that in front of the stage for all the new Lions and Tigers to see. I will also have the Scout Law and Oath on the big overhead screens as well.

Cubs in Shining Armor

More on our November Theme...Courteous

A Scout Is courteous. How Does “Cubs In Shining Armor” relate to this point of the Scout Law?

A Scout knows good manners make it easier for people to get along together. The word “courteous” is an old English word that comes from the time of knights. Many associate chivalry and graciousness with a knight in shining armor because of their code of conduct. The knight’s code of conduct extols these virtues, ensuring that a Cub Scout in shining armor will exhibit courtesy to all.

Courteous

Our Theme for November 2016 is Courteous

A Scout is courteous. A Scout is polite to everyone regardless of age or position. He knows that using good manners makes it easier for people to get along.

"A Scout is courteous" is another way of saying "A Scout is a gentleman." Open a door for someone. Offer your seat on a bus or in a busy waiting room to an elderly person, a pregnant woman, or anyone who needs it more than you. Greet others with a firm handshake. Do your share of family chores in a pleasant way. Say "Please" and "Thank you" or "Pardon me" and "I'm sorry" whenever appropriate.

Being courteous shows that you are aware of the feelings of others. The habits of courtesy that you practice as a Scout will stay with you throughout your life.

Try to incorporate the Scout Law core values into everything you do.

Always remember, a Scout is :  Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Couteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent
