Gentlemen, start your engines!

It's almost time for the Pack 136 Pinewood Derby and Raingutter Regatta.  The race will be on Friday, January 16th, with check-in night on Thursday, January 15th.  Car and boat kits were handed out at the December Pack meeting, and if you missed that meeting you can obtain your kit from your Den Leader.    The Tigers will make boats to participate in the Regatta, while the Wolf, Bear and Webelos Scouts will make cars to participate in the Derby.

Have fun building your car or boat and don't forget to check out the rules before you get started.

November Pack Meeting

The November Pack meeting is on Thursday, November 20th at 7PM at First Presbyterian Church. This year we are doing the Hot Chocolate and Stars! We will be doing Astronomy activities so scouts can earn their Astronomy Belt Loop.

We are asking all scouts to bring in an empty can so they can make constellation projectors. We will also have telescopes to see various objects in the sky (weather permitting) and we’ll have lots of other fun activities. We’ll also have hot chocolate if you need to warm up after the star gazing.

See you all there.

Time for Annual Dues!

It is that time of the year again. We need to complete our pack re-charter with the BSA by December for the upcoming 2015 scout year. In order to complete this requirement timely, it is very important that we complete the dues renewal process at our November Pack Meeting.

The process is very simple because we do all the work for you. At the Dues table, just let us know that your son will be continuing in the Scouting program for the 2015 Scouting year and take care of the associated annual fees as follows:

For Tigers to Webelos 1s: Total Fee - $70

For Webelos 2s: Total Fee - $50

Den and Pack Fees reduced for Webelos 2s since they move to the Troop after 4 months. You can pay at upcoming den meetings or at the Pack meeting with either a check made out to Pack 136 or you can pay with Credit/Debit Card at the pack meeting. Please note there is a $2 fee if you pay electronically with a credit/debit card.

March Pack Meeting

The March Pack Meeting on March 20 is going to feature a visit from the Ohio Wildlife Center (OWC). The OWC, is a premier non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization, and is nationally recognized as an authority on native Ohio wildlife issues. Every year, almost 5,000 injured, orphaned and sick wild animals, representing over 100 different species, are admitted to their emergency facility. OWC is also the only wildlife center in Ohio equipped with immediate and continual veterinary expertise and services. This definitely fits with our theme of Compassion this month. Come experience the OWC as they bring in some of Ohio’s wildlife for us to learn about and enjoy.

Blue and Gold Banquet!!

We had a great Blue and Gold!! Congratulations to all of our scouts who achieved their ranks and awards.  Many of the scouts looked great in their Rank Ceremony Face Paint.  We had some great cakes and skits! There were also some great table decorations. Den 4 was the winner of the Table Decoration Contest with their Star Wars Table and gets to line up first for meals at Spring Camp.  Congratulations also to our Webelos 2 scouts who got their Arrow of Light Awards. Way to Go!!

Cubmaster Message

This month’s Core Value is Compassion: Being kind and considerate and showing concern for the well-being of others. What better way is there to plant seeds of kindness and to show compassion to others than to provide service?  Not only do the actions of our Scouts enhance the lives of those they serve, but their attitudes encourage others to be better people and show acts of kindness in their everyday lives. Along the trail of Scouting, we promise to “HELP OTHER PEOPLE,” and that “THE CUB SCOUT GIVES GOODWILL.” It is important for a Cub Scout to gain an understanding and experience the satisfaction in helping those less fortunate than himself.

Blue and Gold

It’s time to get ready for the Blue and Gold Banquet! The Blue and Gold is going to be held at First Baptist Church 3301 Orders Road on February 28th from 7-8:30 PM

The Theme for this year is Galactic Trek. This should be a great event with Den Skits, Advancement Ceremonies and some other surprises. To help with FOS we are doing a Cake Bake Auction this year with all proceeds going to FOS so all scouts are asked to bring in a cake for the Cake Bake Auction. The Theme for cakes goes with the blue and gold theme or scouting.

The Dens will also be competing for best centerpiece. Each Den will get a table to decorate and to put their cakes on. The Pack will be providing a additional dessert and drinks.

Cubmaster Message

Happy Birthday Scouts! I know it may not be your birthday, but February is the month that we celebrate the anniversary of Scouting. Do you like to be remembered on your birthday or do you give someone a present on their birthday? I bet you do. We like to celebrate one another on days of recognition. Recognizing Scouting is no different. Take the opportunity to REMEMBER the importance of being a Cub Scout this month. Wear your uniform to your place of worship on Feb 2nd, wear your uniform to school and tell others about your Scouting program.

You can also give BSA a birthday present. Talk to your parents about giving a gift to Scouting by donating money to the Friends of Scouting. In fact we are all encouraging scouts to bring that birthday cake to our Pack Cake Bake at the Blue and Gold. As a Pack, we will celebrate BSA’s birthday at our Blue and Gold Banquet—our pack meeting this month, where we will eat together, celebrate each other’s accomplishments, and have some fun.

“A Scout is Thrifty…”

Several scouts have not yet paid their annual dues that were due in December. Please pay as soon as possible to your den leader as this takes away from funding for both your den and the pack activities.
